A quality budget phone with a mid range price. I'm not sure who it's aimed at but at least it s not all plastic. It certainly has appeal, but if you buy one will you wish you'd paid more and got something better?
Actually I can see an advantage here in the uk if the Gov/Inland Rev applied themselves to making an app for PAYE and Tax.
However the trouble with government IT projects is this. It would be delivered late, it would be of poor quality, it would cost the tax payer ridiculous amounts if money.
No doubt designed by fools, managed by idiots and overseen by morons. That is the typical UK managed IT project outcome.
This is probably down to the failure to sell the most hyped up and expensive product they have, the Ultra Book. They failed to realise the buying public are getting wise to the hype they spew.
So those in the know got in first, bought stock, then sold quickly as the share price went up to unsuspecting idiots who got in after the first round and bought shares loosing significant value.
This happened overnight. Is this insider trading? Or was thisnanlegal way to stuff unsuspecting fools.
I say fool because some people have a very short memory span, I still remember the dot.com bubble bursting.
Not everyone can see in 3D, the glasses are a pain and having to sit directly in front of the screen to benefit won't work in my house. My wife has prime position from her perch on the sofa, I have to suffer a 50 degree offset from where I sit.
I just want to slump down and watch a bit of telly, not hunt round for a pair of plastic specs an have them digging in my ears for a few moments of 'ooh look at that' and then realise the content of the program is crap.
In the cinema, yes, but in my house definately not.
Time for encryption of every device I own, not because I have something to hide but because my business is my own. Why should the police have access to confidential emails, family pictures, confidential telephone numbers. If I have had to sign a document stating I will not divulge this information why should they have access it it on a whim of fancy.
Totally open to abuse of office with no safe guards, and pray tell why they would want to store pictures of my children for ever?
This poorly thought out legislation will be a gold mine for lawyers. Is that the intention? Jobs for the politicians friends and family. I think it is though I may be cynical
I understand your confusion. My advice, make sure whatever phone to buy fits in your pocket, never buy a newly released handset as they all have teething problems, wait a month or so for reviews that comment more on usage rather than a 5 min fumble, consider, if it is an android phone does it come with the most upto date OS or is the manufacturer giving you a 'promise' of an update in the future. Note that when my HTC Sensation (unbranded) was updated to ICS it became a pig. If you have a branded handset the update will take much longer, if ever, and you may find it does not suit the phone.
Consider, as I do, whether you want to be stuck with a phone on a two year contract which is average, and will be well out do date in six months and unlikely to have the OS up graded after a year, should you buy an unbranded phone and then go for a sim only deal. Note android phones get cheaper after a month or so of release, while Apple do not. If you keep your phone in top condition unbranded ones sell better.
Lots to think about, good luck because you'll need it.
The parents will buy them and the children will play them.
Is Uncle Vaz going to send an inspector to every home or will we have to sign a form and wear a.pledge ring to promise not toet children have access to the home pc and game console's.
The ICS update has crippled the phone, it is buggy, slow, has spelling mistakes in the menu, battery life has dropped and writing messaging and emails takes on a life of its own.
The iPhone will work, it will sync with my iPad, contacts are safely stored in the cloud and it backs it self up input free.
It works out of the box and my service provider is supplying a sim free of charge. For once it will be blissful to know that using it will be effortless.

Re: Another huge
How much was really wasted? Oh enough to built three new hospitals?
They are quick to arrest those who do it to China, but about all the stuff they do to us, or is it really state sponsored? Call me a cynic.

Where does it fit in

How many times do we have to hear
Pop, pop, pop, pop, pop
As the bubble burst.
But my question, who made lots of money from this? Start the investigation there.
Products we don't want
This is probably down to the failure to sell the most hyped up and expensive product they have, the Ultra Book. They failed to realise the buying public are getting wise to the hype they spew.

Re: So
You are very naive if you think this law is not open to abuse.

Watch out again.
Almost everyday someone finds a vulnerability on an android handset. When will it end?
How many acces web pages with pass words, check on their bank accounts, buy stuff?
Every mobile should come with a warning 'Danger, using this phone may leave your personal data exposed and result in financial loss'.

Re: The true price
It's all down to their tangible assets, but what do they have except server space?
The bubble burst once it may do so again, but why oh why to people forget so easily?

Re: "The silver block to the right of the A4 chip is where the microSIM goes"
After the micro sim will we get the incy wincy tiny teenie little red and silver weenie sim?
Couldn't find a rhyming word for sim?
On the plus side there is the BIG battery, and it can withstand a shower.
Um, that's it, looks ugly, uninspired and the screen is nothing to boast about, did Motorola know Samsung were bringing out the S3 and HTC new effort?
They seem to like to play catch up don't they.
few minutesday's tradeDoes anyone
remember the dot.com bubble of a few years ago? It burst.......
I've got a Sony
doesn't cut it anymore.
'failed to anticipate the amount of work involved'
Oh dear what a surprise LOL as Cameron would say.
Idiots, managed by idiots, overseen by idiots.
That is the history of the UK political classes.
just goes to show
The influence Apple have in this market.
Wasn't it Steve Jobs dream to design and build it all in house?
There is a surprising number of these strange people that have fallen from the nut tree, maybe it is something in the water?
Or a CIA mind control experiment gone wrong?
careful there
You should have used a Samsung case, less chance of being sued for copyright.
Re: so
Who will buy it when the new Samsung, new iPhone and HTC are its competitors?
a new sport
Extreme Tax Avoidance
Re: Okay so...
If in the instructions it states FIRE HAZARD if switched on then so be it.
If not then it must be a fault.
and still
The parents will buy them and the children will play them.
Is Uncle Vaz going to send an inspector to every home or will we have to sign a form and wear a.pledge ring to promise not toet children have access to the home pc and game console's.
This.is pure SOUND BITE LEGISLATION.
It has no relevance in the real world.
I have
Retired my HTC sensation and await my new iPhone.
Why?
The ICS update has crippled the phone, it is buggy, slow, has spelling mistakes in the menu, battery life has dropped and writing messaging and emails takes on a life of its own.
The iPhone will work, it will sync with my iPad, contacts are safely stored in the cloud and it backs it self up input free.

Re: I can't believe that thing is still limping along
Make it a bit cheaper which makes it competative.,
Re: Apple rumours...
Ok, now where have I heard things like this before?
I remember, fairyland.
they have
got to do something before their business model collapses.
Re: SERVES THEM RIGHT
He who shouts loudest!

WATCH OUT FOR SUBMARINES!
a superior quality
Device laid low by a second rate repair

one day
I bought a 'new' iPad then changed my HTC Sensation to an iPhone and suddenly I had an epiphany....
Why can't all things be so simple, so easy, so slick and so reliable, look good, feel good and ouze quality?
All devices are not born equal.
Some are less equal than others. Why did I change?
The ICS update, that's why.
they are guilty or they are not
a simple yes or no question made more difficult to answer by manipulating lawyers who stand to gain very hefty fees.
J'accuse
The idiots that re-elected the idiot and gave him a platform to speak.
You never more
than three feet away from an idiot when walking through the Houses of Parliament.
When did Uncle Vaz last play a computer game?
Have we all forgotten how involved he was by giving out dodgy favours?
He is just not credible is he?
Must be censored.. Must be censored.. Must be censored... Must be censored.. Must be censored.... Must be censored....
CAN THEY CENSOR PARTY POLITICAL STUFF
which is all lies, misrepresention and manipulation of the truth.
I would sign up for that.
where is the surprise?
Idiot consultants employed by idiot firms employed by idiot advisers overseen by idiot politicians?
The only suprise... Is that 4 in 5 succeed.
Bet that's a load of bull.
the only way
That McAfee will survive because their products have been consistently poor over the last few years.
will this mean
Only .com will be allowed if you trade from the US or .org if you have an organisation or .net if you are a fisherman.
A load of .balls if you ask me.
50 million
Will just about pay 10% of the consultants fees.
they keep growing and growing
in size,so how long before we need a man bag/hand bag to carry then round in?
mines bigger than yours
Will I need a laptop bag to carry it in?
windows 9
will rectify all the faults!
Re: There's light at the end of the tunnel
Is it right to try and fix something that isn't broken?
Re: smugness
Sadly they have the right to be smug.
