Didn't this Norweigan nutcase also say that World of Warcraft helped train him also, and that he's a member of the Knights Templar? I think Vaz might need one of those sanity tests too...
I'm pretty sure it has something to do with how impossible it is to get goods in and out of the UK without it geting covered in a thin film of Mr Cameron's saliva.
I'm none too bothered with the lack of an SD card slot on my Desire. I always mount my card onto my PC using the phone itself because taking it out means turning the phone off, and those silly little things are just begging to be eaten up by the dog the moment it slips out of my hand. So long as I can mount the thing as a regular disk drive with a usb cable, I'm golden.
The lack of removable battery however, is a more regrettable loss as it will make hard resetting the device quite a bit harder. I understand why they did this though, (battery cases take up lots of space) and I'm sure HTC have a workaround in place for tinkerers.
The android design guidlines remind me a lot of the Windows ones. They exist, but because programs that use them look so ugly, (pre-gingerbread anyway) it just gets ignored in favour of whatever misguided idea the developer has.
Have you been asleep for the past few months or so? I though the whole point of the One X/S/V was that they'd be trying to get rid of their 'build as many as possible' stigma from the past year and only release 3 handsets between now and 2013.
Agreed. On it's own it deserves a spot on the list, but there is no punishment cruel enough for the permanent damage caused to what's probably the greatest film triogy of all time.
Resolution is down? I might be wrong on this, but I think this is HTC's first phone with a 720p screen resolution. Also, HTC admitted that their old 'we will build and they will buy' policy wasn't doing them any favours, so they're only releasing 3 phones this year. The X, a similar dual core job, and what looks to be an upgraded HTC legend. Looks like a decent range to me, abliet a little uninspired.
"All their consoles have been less advanced than their competition since the days of the N64 (and maybe before, I wasn't really paying attention)."
No, you haven't been paying attention. It shows. In terms of raw grunt, the N64 surpassed the ps1, though it fell flat with storage and v-ram. The Gamecube however, matched the PS2 perfectly, and surpassed it with better shader technology than it's rival. That's why the Gamecube was always flooded with Survival Horror games, because of it's ability to produce more realistic fog and whatnot.
I wouldn't put my hopes up too high if I were you. Buggier than an average day at the beach, and the art director for the first three games says it looks like garbage, and should never have been released.
Don't hold your breath- upgrading standard definition to HD is pretty much impossible. What they will do however, is upscale the video to 1080p, which will do nothing whatsoever to improve the quality.
Ubuntu Classic disappeared with the switch to Gnome 3 in 11.10 I'm afraid. Replaced instead with 'Unity 2D', it's far less polished, Metacity based brother.
This is just getting silly. Motorola / Apple / Samsung / etc need to stop these pointless patent disputes and just agree that some things are just an industry standard. Goodness knows where we'd be now if some bored patent lawyer in the 80's decided to patent drop down menus or shortcut icons.
Netbooks? Underpowered? Barely enough power to render a webpage? Nonsense. Even with one of the single core 1.6Ghz atom jobs, you can decode 1080p if you play your cards right. And by play your cards right, I mean ditch that horrifying mess that is Win7 Starter, ergo the penguin.
Other networks are blaming Google for launching a service that lets people search Google+? If this new search included Twitter and Facebook and pushed them down in favour of G+ then sure, but from what I understand, this is a service for just Google+ users. People do like to jump on Google for breaking their motto for the silliest of reasons...
Not sure what rock you're living under lad, but Macs have seen a huge rise in games thanks to Steam and Onlive entering the market. Who knows, one day they might break into triple digits.
"BlackBerry 10 OS – formerly known as QNX"
I'm pretty sure you meant BBX there. QNX is an embedded system that's been around since the 80's, which serves as the core for both Playbook OS, and the upcoming Blackberry 10 OS.
Origin? Hassle free? Origin is probably why Crysis 2 has the No 1 spot, and why Battlefield 3 is so high. A buggy, god-awful piece of software that should never have seen the light of day.
As for MW3, people probably couldn't see why they had to buy another copy of CoD4 for the 5th time.
Looks like the usual good intentioned developer vs uncaring publisher malarky again. Lets hope Bioware can convince their electronic overlords to bring back the grace period before the game goes live.
Very impressive service from what I've seen, even in early days like this. Bought Batman AC during the black Friday £1 sale, and today downloaded the android app (which is exactly the same as the PC/Console version) along with my free copy of Lego Batman, and was bowled over by the service both times. I expect very very big things from this service in the future.
"Every single review seems to comment that they hate Sense"
Not from the reviews I've seen. Though it's still quite chunky, Sense hasn't slowed down handsets since the HTC Hero days. From my experience, and from every review I've seen (including el reg), the sense UI is brilliant. Sense adds some much needed polish to the quite ugly Android UI, and adds features to android that have only just been added to stock (facebook/twitter integration into contacts manager, for example)
No need to panic yet people, nothing is certain at this point. As for the lead role, Either Mr Depp or Hugh Laurie. I'd love a bit of blackadder style in a who movie.
"Sure it's impractical, the tech doesn't exist yet, and it most likely won't work, but on the 0.00000001% chance it does work, it would look bloody good on the evening news."
Huh. I don't know if 'Mother knows best' canonical have just messed up my compiz settings or something stupid, but I'm just not getting any of that 'Extra performance' stuff people are raving about. Hopefully just some teething problems with my hardware that'll be fixed in good time.
I don't remember it having one for a long time now. A fitting end for the promising startup that slowly succumbed to corporate greed. A lesson for future music services, I hope.
I bought the Desire mainly because I wanted to avoid this 'lol not enough memory' nonsense in the first place. I wouldn't be surprised if XDA have a working gingersense rom out by the end of the week anyway. If not, I'm sure CyanogenMOD will fill my needs when froyo comes to the end of it's life.
It wouldn't be the first time Apple have pushed out a standard feature as something 'new'. A welcome break away from iTunes though. All Apple needs to do now is re-brand the Mac App store as the Apple App store, and shift iOS apps onto that platrform, which makes much more sense.
... When the blind are leading the blind? Most teachers in secondary schools know no more about computers than the students themselves, with the exception of those 1 day seminars they have on inset days.
Get some specialist teachers in there, who know what they are actually on about.

Correction
HTC One X has 32gb of onboard memory, not 16. That's the One S you're thinking of lad.
Especially considering you can get the things second hand now for under £200. Poor buggers.

Um, about that Silent Hill HD collection...
I wouldn't put my hopes up too high if I were you. Buggier than an average day at the beach, and the art director for the first three games says it looks like garbage, and should never have been released.
Sorry.
Available for...
iOS, Android, Playbook OS, PC, Mac, Chrome, Facebook, but not WP7 (completely).
Says a whole lot about the success of the platform, to be honest.
Don't hold your breath- upgrading standard definition to HD is pretty much impossible. What they will do however, is upscale the video to 1080p, which will do nothing whatsoever to improve the quality.
In short, it's a ripoff.

To put it bluntly, a lot. ~£300 on ebay is the norm it seems.
So, let me get this straight..

...Or until Steam offer something similar anyway.

Touchwiz and Motoblur however...
Hey, here's a genius idea:
How about a g+ api, google? Plus is failing because it's lack of integration with anything other than google products.
They don't even have a script yet...
No need to panic yet people, nothing is certain at this point. As for the lead role, Either Mr Depp or Hugh Laurie. I'd love a bit of blackadder style in a who movie.
Hang on...
Haven't they already got a 7" android tablet called the nook color? Sure it needs some fiddling to get the android market on it, but it's all there.
"Sure it's impractical, the tech doesn't exist yet, and it most likely won't work, but on the 0.00000001% chance it does work, it would look bloody good on the evening news."
I wonder...
If this offer also extends to £200 netbooks, and how long this offer will last when people start to realise this.
Whatever happened to..
.. Admitting defeat at third place? Something tells me that stockholders weren't too happy about being underneath Apple and Google.
Huh. I don't know if 'Mother knows best' canonical have just messed up my compiz settings or something stupid, but I'm just not getting any of that 'Extra performance' stuff people are raving about. Hopefully just some teething problems with my hardware that'll be fixed in good time.

Re: Game Over
Oh shush. Removing features of an OS that sony own is hardly illegal. Sony gave people a choice of Linux, or PSN,
And as huge of a scandal as this is, not encrypting user passwords and not employing better security is hardly a crime against humanity.
What else would you expect...
