When you as a consumer have a choice of Android, iOS or QNX it seems logical to want to buy the device with a decent selection of apps already, rather than waiting 3 months and hoping they come out.
Remember this is being aimed at mobiles, why chew up precious data on streaming your own music collection? Plus what about flights and areas with no coverage? Just do without?

Isn't this why UDP has typically been the favorite protocol of DDoS'ers? Don't think they make tarpits for UDP ;) Of course UDP can be filtered out a bit easier, but if you have multiple GB/s of bw available it probably wouldn't matter.
I would never have an interest in a subsidized tablet. I like the fact when I want data, its very simple to turn it on. When I don't want it, its very easy to turn off.
How many other tablets allow you to manage your data account right on the tablet like an iPad? When I go into the US I have an AT&T sim I can easily activate a data plan, and terminate it when I leave. Locking a tablet to one carrier would make it useless IMO, so comparing to subsidized pricing is a load of..
I'm afraid it sounds like Nexus in the US/Canada makes a hell of a lot more sense. First its opt-in, your not forced to provide biometrics, and second its based on an IRIS scan which I've never had a problem with.
They told everyone about it way to soon, whats the point of hyping a device for months on end when you cant actually purchase it? And when they don't even have a firm release date that I know of.
They'll end up being 3rd to market as a slew of Android tablets (in addition to the ones already out) will be available soon.
With Fido/Rogers in Canada there isn't an extra fee for tethering, its 100% free with a data plan of 1GB or greater I believe. No extra junk to install either.
Why would Apple care one way or the other? They give carriers the ability to enable/disable it, its the carriers choice to charge. Wasn't there an extra fee for making a Wifi hotspot with some of the newer Android phones on some carriers?
Apple has ered with the iPhone 4 antenna, but at the same time I would hardly be scared of Android right now. The UI is downright clunky, copy and pasting is a terrible chore and there is mostly garbage for apps. Googles new tech will surely change that though.
Droidtards are almost as bad as open source fanbois somedays.

iPad supports remote wipe for free for all consumers via me.com and the find my iphone app. Surely BB can manage that?

Your making the implicit assumption that it can only be an iOS vs Android game, that likely won't be the case long term.
If your a developer wanting to make money now, I would bet on an iOS app vs an Android one.

This is carrier specific, I don't pay anything extra for it. Similar arrangement on Android for some of the hotspot features.
How times change....
Before the iPad was released you would of read here they'll never sell any, now that Android tablets are coming out its suddenly a good idea ;)
Oh well, at least we can go back to the endless chatter of Apple users being sheeple.

Skype is available for SMS/Phone calls already, but it will cost you a monthly fee on top of what you pay for the jacket.
I would guess the battery life would be terrible though.
