Oh dear, how sad, never mind.

While I have sympathy for people who are conned through no fault of their own other than being a bit naive. For these people I have not a single jot of sympathy. Anyone who gets approached by some random stranger offering to sell them something on the cheap is bound to know it's either a con or it's stolen goods, either way they should have known better and have only themselves to blame.

Shove it right up your proverbial!!!!

After the last unplayable clusterfuck they released, Treyarch you can [Insert comment title here]. Two copies of BO1 for PC I bought, and for months neither worked correctly to the point I gave up trying. Whether the lag and disconnection issues where eventually sorted I have no clue as I gave up trying and waiting for it to be fixed and it has remained unplayed ever since. I swore then that I would never buy another CoD release again. I didn't buy MW3, and I certainly won't be buying BO2, even more so as Treyarch are again involved in it.

Not exactly out of the computer business

He is still in the computer business. Although he sold Amstrad to Sky, he still owns Viglen who are mainly involved in the education & public sector arena.

Oh dear...

I can see the cinemas handing out free sick bags, as I think this will be the cheesiest pile of idol worshipping nonsense. I expect the only thing that will be missing will be the halos & horns and the Omen theme every time Gatesy shows up on screen. Still.... it could turn out to be a work of artistic genius, but somehow I doubt it as I don't think Ashton's "artistic capabilities" could be that far stretched.

Nice bubble chart

So what's the difference between the Head of Projects, the Head of Major Projects, and the Head of Major Projects and Change other than £30,000 a year, bigger projects and the possibility that a project may change. Still at least the bubble has pointed out to us that there is a highly paid and probably unnecessary job that is vacant and up for grabs..... any takers.

I'll believe it when I see it

How many of these concept videos do we see. It's a shame the concept very rarely makes it into reality, and when they do they are usually so far removed from what we expected from the concept video it makes you wonder why they bothered with the concept video in the first place. To put it another way.. I won't hold my breath.

If I had realised how much this would piss off iPhone users I would have got it before now. Now all I need to do in line up that pocketful of spare change I have, some bits of fluff hanging out he rear of my extractor fan and some kitty litter to photograph from various angles and I'm good to go. Then I'll be off to the shed to see what other completely useless crap is there and grab a little snapshot of it. Ahhhh... The lengths one has to go to in order to annoy others about something they need not be annoyed. Still, I have to grab whatever amusement I can for myself these days. All I need now is something that will bug the shit out of Droid users then I can get my sons iPhone into action.......... or am I just suffering from grumpy old man syndrome.

I initially had trouble

When I first installed ICS on my Asus TF101, I had reboot and crash issues, I was rooted and had CWM installed as well, so I decided to redo it all. I went back to HC, rerooted with Vipermod immediately after, cleared out all the old leftover junk, installed rootkeeper, and went through the several update process to get to the latest ICS, reclaiming root each time with rootkeeper. The only thing I haven't done is reinstall CWM (yet). It's been a week now and I haven't suffered a single reboot or crash and it's definitely faster than HC. Only thing I'm missing is my overclockable kernel so I can up the speed a little bit more. To be honest though, I haven't really 'needed' to Overclock it. It's more that I 'want' to overclock it.

My overall point is, yes the issue as we know is definitely there, but personally I think it's more to do with some 3rd party software not playing nice rather than ICS or the hardware, as the only thing missing in my case between the first install of ICS and the second is leftover app software and CWM, nothing else is different.

As far as I recall..

and I could be wrong but didn't the Commodore brand and the Amiga brand & OS part company quite some time ago. I don't know what this bastardisation of a machine is, but it's certainly not a Commodore. It might have the name, but it doesn't have the heart or the passion of our old beloved machines (excluding Amiga CD32 of course)..... Oh and it's stupidly overpriced as well as being butt fugly.

Re: The NHS is the fifth biggest organisation in the world with 1.7 million employees

Well someone has already given some figures for a while ago, but I think you are being highly unfair on the many "pen pushers", "desk jockeys", "IT support staff", etc. I assume pretty much everyone among other things would like their medical records kept in some kind of order, maybe some kind of letter to inform them of their appointments and results, someone to answer the phone perhaps when you ring for that ambulance, someone to repair the medical equipment when it breaks down. Your comment seems to suggest that you feel these sort of jobs are pretty unimportant and unnecessary, and the people that do them are nothing but opportunistic scumbags, whereas personally I think the vast majority do a very good job. I also happen to think that you sir, are a fucking moronic idiot.

In the meantime however there is a far more pressing and important issue which needs to be resolved.

How exactly does one obtain a Special Projects Bureau T-shirt?

If there is no official channel then perhaps someone might be good enough to upload the logo so we may do our own (copyright permitting of course), because I really REALLY want a Special Projects Bureau T-shirt (yes I am that sad)

Re: So let me get this straight...

Put it into perspective though, that $21,000,000 will only cover around a third of the wages bill for the first year. Take into account the taxes from those wages along with whatever other taxes are generated from the campus. Yes it might cost them a chunk of change but the benefits will far outweigh the costs very quickly.

I'm not an Apple man myself, but business is business and if they are going to invest somewhere, it only stands to reason that they should expect the beneficiaries of that investment to put up a bit as well. Do you think Apple are the only business to expect this, which is why practically every government has investment grants and funding for not only big companies, but small businesses as well. The expectation is that the investment will pay for itself through reclaimed taxes and people having jobs who might otherwise be claiming welfare benefits.

Re: Re: Re: Hmm

He would be prosecuted for theft (which replaced Fraudulent Conversion) as it was his intent was to permanently deprive me of the car. The Criminal Injuries scheme is a scheme to compensate victims of crime who have received injury to their person either physical or mental through an act of violence. Someone buying a stolen car would not qualify (unless my son battered him over the head before leaving) . If Apple didn't know the property was stolen then they wouldn't be charged with handling stolen goods.

I think you would probably be better holding onto that 'iTosser' trademark, sounds like you may need it.

CmdrX3

Re: Hmm

No it's not really up to one Proview unit to sue the other. If my son sells my car without my permission to someone, and I say "oiii hang on a sec, that's my car, he didn't have permission to sell it... I want it back". I don't sue my son, I get the police to return my car and it's up to the purchaser of the car to sue my son for his money back. Obviously things are a little more complicated than that and that's a very basic analogy.

Personally though as regards to Proview and Apple, I could care less either way. I don't plan on buying an iPad so whether they are available or not affects me not one jot.

Why bother, the man has been the most ineffectual President the US has seen in a while, probably on a par with Carter. Once you get past being the first black US President and getting Bin Laden (although he probably had little to do with that other than giving the go ahead) what have you left. Gitmo is still operational, the banks still got their money and no accountability for it, the Health Care bill was so watered down and concessioned to death that it's practically useless. Quite frankly his rally cry for his next campaign should be "No we didn't".

Sadly, the US is now likely to get some Republican lunatic (probably Mitt Romney) as the next President, although to be fair he seems to be a good bit less loony than Bush, Boener, Palin, McCain or indeed 75% of the other GOP representatives.

Sidewinder missile style (except vertical)

What about one single balloon in the centre of the platform with the avionics and camera where they are. At the tip of the platform a vertical launch guide rail and at the opposite tip a counterbalance. Not sure of the width of a fully inflated balloon but even so, placed at the tip of the platform it would allow the launch trajectory to be reduced and more vertical.

CmdrX3

Yes you could, if you had applied for it. There would also be absolutely nothing RB could do about it. As it would be your own name and you genuinely made porn movies, then the name would not have been registered in bad faith. It's more than likely RB would have had to just suck it up (so to speak)

CmdrX3

In regards to horizontal stability

As you are already putting some electronics in there, would it be a big problem adding a tilt sensor connected to a small motor that could move a counterweight back and forward along underneath the length of the platform. I don't really know how much extra weight or power that would require, but it's couldn't be that much

The trouble with that logic is that everyone also calls the TV channel ITV already anyway. Even here in NI where it's actually called UTV people still call it ITV. There's also this..

Re: Here's a thought

Because if they did that an iPad would cost £1999.99 because of the higher wages and they wouldn't have ANY customers for it. Just because it's a US company with US customers doesn't mean they should manufacture them there or any less American because of it. If companies like Toyota, BMW, Sony and the tens of thousands of other non US companies all took the same kind of xenophobic views on manufacturing as you suggest American companies take, the US would be in a hell of a lot worse state than it is now

@BillG

I hate to burst your bubble but in general Western society just doesn't care, as long as they get cheaply manufactured goodies of every description, it doesn't stop at Apple and their iPhone users. The average bloke or blokette that walks into their local phone shop or electrical supplier just wants to buy their gadge at the lowest possible price. They couldn't give two monkeys whether their kit was put together by a half starved low paid chinese work slave or by a 9 year old child working 12 hour shifts.... as long as they can get it for £20 cheaper, the conscience generally remains at home. Am I one of those people, yes sadly I am, and I don't have a bit of Apple kit to my name.

CmdrX3

Exactly right, if 20 out of 30 people say the food is nice, 5 say it's bloody fantastic and 5 say it's absolutely horrible, I tend to assume that 5 people are very easily pleased, just happened to really enjoy the food, or the owner and his family posted reviews. I would also assume that 5 people got really unlucky the night they visited or just tried the wrong food, or that they the kind of people that nothing would please them. In the above example, I would go with the consensus and be willing to try it out.

I have left several reviews on trip advisor myself, so I know there are definitely genuine reviews, and probably many (if not most) of them are genuine reviews, but as said any review sites should only be used to AID in a decision about something and not the definitive truth about something.

CmdrX3

I'm sure it could be done

While I think its certainly possible I think its highly unlikely. I'm sure there were many who thought it was a bit of a loony idea when JFK made the moon challenge but with determination, the will and lots and lots of money they succeeded. However, in this case it's nothing more than vote catching from a creepy old politician desperate for a bit of power. Shame really as its the sort of thing we really need to happen to progress space exploration further.

CmdrX3

Fairly compensated!!

I'm all for them being fairly compensated for their work, but miners in the high deserts of Nevada (or practically anyone else who works for a living) doesn't still expect to be getting paid for the work they did 40 years ago.

CmdrX3

Done this in the 80's and I'm sure others did it long before that. Every new generation thinks they are the first to do something that most generations before them have already done. E.g Today they sniff aerosols, in my day it was glue, lighter fluid and petrol, in my great grandfathers day it was probably something like ether.

CmdrX3

The trouble with your steel box idea though is that unless you have a camera recording what is going on it's too easy to abuse. If you have two deliveries for example, what's to stop the second driver from nicking your first package and blaming the original driver, or for them to use the code then not put the parcel in the box. They simply need to say they delivered it and the customer is trying it on. Now I'm stop saying delivery drivers are thieves, as I used to be one myself and like in any other job they are normal honest people, but also like any other job there is always a few bad apples.

CmdrX3

I agree. I didn't actually notice any downtime, but there was definitely big problems outside of those times. I was having trouble connecting to quite a few websites at 3.45pm.

CmdrX3

You are probably wise to keep them. At the moment I have a hard drive that may not be too far from failing, so I've pulled out a few older smaller capacity HD's. they are like little lifeboats at this point in time. Prices do seem to be dropping a bit though now but it seems to be mainly the slower 5400RPM drives.

Well for a start...

It would make all those I'm a Mac, I'm a PC ads look a bit stupid and pointless (even though they were anyway). On top of that you have a shed load of Apple users who would rather have their toenails pulled out with a pair of pliers rather than admit to owning a "PC" when in actual fact what they own is a "Mac" or a "Macbook" or an "Air", etc and what they most definitely don't have is a "PC". Basically it's just something that's stuck over the years and to be honest it works perfectly well. you either have a PC which can run Windows, Linux, OSX and god knows what else and you have an [Insert Apple band name here] which can run OSX, Windows and I don't know what else as I don't have or want one.
