I buy at antiques (etc) auctions and at least one of the major live bidding systems runs on Java. I can update my 6 month old Apple Imac all day long, but the bidding software still won't work. Something to do with applets failing to load.. So I will have to buy a windows machine. Bang goes the budget for an Ipad.
The staff have to absorb and then communicate a huge amount of constantly changing information. Anyone could make a small error about terms & conditions, but I have always found the staff to be helpful, friendly, patient, and well informed.
Anon.Cow. writes about trademe in New Zealand; they have a good way of preventing problems: only NZ users (and possibly Aussies) can register to buy. (!!)
