I just checked my preferences and guess what: login as Guest is disabled, OUT OF A CLEAN INSTALL a few weeks ago. So anyone having this problem has enabled Guest, that simple.
But perhaps we should complain "nicely and graceful". For it's free, and quite outstanding. Hilton, because she isn't. (nice, graceful, free or outstanding that is)
I have a supermarket nearby for my food, a well maintained house (inc. surroundings) so no pests, and a government that can be managed by voting, not with High Velocity Metal Projectiles, thank you very much. And I prefer English over American any time.
Having been in a similar situation, I feel sorry for the unemployed-to-be. On the other hand, it would/could/should also mean less Polish(read non-Irish) workers coming to Ireland. Given the Irish spirit and mentality, I'm certain the situation will stabilise. But there will be a sad, cold winter this year.
Somewhere in the whole moneycollecting process there will be a teenage boy at a Western Union franchise collecting cash, and there the trail vanishes disappears.
AFAIK Halon (or BCF's) has been banned for newly installs, but current installs might apply for refills (in some countries). But mostly it's nontoxuc inert gases nowadays.
Nice BOFH Simon, good one to enter the weekend with :) Are we going to experience the unmet potentials of the bulk-eraser by the way somewhen? Ah, gotta love the goood old bulk-eraser. Retro BOFH!
Sometimes, things just aren't in order. Just being able to pick out a machine that feels 'different', being able to pull an instant backup off its Data-partition only to hear it go >>KLENGKLENGKLENG<< less than 5 minutes afterwards, it just feels Jedi :)
Mine's the one with the ieee1394 drive in the inside pocket.
"Today, Dutch tax-office officials admitted that there are over 600 different sopftware-programs being used by the it-departement, most of them more than 10 years old..."
Oh, that's cool. They cóuld've stated they use >400 programming languages, thát would be a bit remarkable...
"Most Dutch taxpayers do not have to submit their tax returns until 1 April and the early birds probably still have a copy of their electronic tax returns. "
Ah, go through that whole thing AGAIN, like most people haven't got anything more fun to do. And most people are as likely to have a backup as the dutch IRS seem to have.
What excuse is there to NOT have a backup? Pray enlighten me!
An accompanying word by the BofH-master himself: what an honour that he came to read this comments! Mind you, I remember when I emailed him 8 years ago from Ireland that he is a true inspira <ZZZAAAAPPPP>
Raw, saline herring, or its acidic counterpart: considered a delicacy in the Hollands. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soused_herring for culinary goodness!
Aren't there universities to be contacted, to let the students have a competition? Perhaps he could share his knowledge with some of the tutors? Actually use his skills to train students to become security experts? Oh, I forgot: he probably isn't part of the solution that _prevents_ these sorts of mayhem, he earns a living cleaning up.

We are entitled to complain

I don't need a gun

"Useful things to do with Cat 5: the missing manual", one of the books I'd actually buy!
alternative:
Display "THIS IS A RE-RUN" over quarter of the screen: anyone thick enough to think it's live, well, that's Darwin in action...
Paris, just because, you know... :)
make it small
I don't really care about computing power or zillions of colour or touch-anything-design-whatever-feature: I want a 10" thingy that _just_works_
Yeah, going vegan is the cure for cancer
@Rey Ortega
He's a pescetarian. And veganism? Surely it beats the average US-citizen diet, but I doubt if it's healthier than pescetarianism.
Frankly I'm súre it's healthier, but hey, don't let facts get you in the way.
whiners
The UK license fee is great value. At least it's not hidden in tax (like in the Netherlands) and no commercials (like we have in the Netherlands).
Why not complain about Dr. Who or Torchwood? As expensive as well probably, yet less viewers.
Mine's the one that has "I'd rather be in Sidcup" embroidered on the back.
Too true

Nagging issue, please advise!
Should I rather be in Sidcup?
Gimme gimme gimme!
Birthday next month, so let me have it!
Then I'll start saving for a car.
Mine's the waterproof one with the fluorescent stripes, cheers.
@Sim: re addressbar
"firefox 3 Url-bar Rubbish Behaviour " was solved with the use of the 'oldbar' add-on.
Paris, cause I'd try her too :)
Stop storing your files in /Documents and Settings
Less vulnerable OS's might be an alternative too.
Grand!
Old skool BOFH!
Pick me! Pick me!!
Of course I'll install it! Always a pleasure, no it's an honour to improve one of the worlds' fines operating systems!!
Mine's the white one, with the leather straps on the sleeves and near the crotch, thank you.
*cue 'The Doors'*
This could be the beginning of the end of the internet as we know it.
Huh?
FSJ? Is that you?
Meeeemories
of the way we weeeere...
My OS is great
@Eric Pinkerton
Too bad it's not 100%-proof, so I will remain carefull with what I do with it.
CRT
because they _do_ hit harder.
phew

Evil Dead II
Nice poll btw, worthy entry for the weekend!
Unforgivable

Law is for everyone, not only for those too poor to effectively avoid it. Give those millionaires some quality time behind bars as well!

Grand, really grand!
Sombre, chilling, a dash of feverish shivers and words cut out by razor-blades from the 5th ring of hell: a Classic!

can we have your firstborn as well? Ah, cheers.
Yes, that tinfoil hat please, ta.

Funny how '1984' comes to mind, when something from '2001' is mentioned in the article.

So: are there vacancies? (starts cleaning up resumee)
Ah, Netscape...
What was the version that came with the unfreeze extension for the mac? 2.0?
How 12000?
How the figure of 12000? Unique ip-addresses? Creditcards? Login-databases?
@Dr. Vesselin Bontchev
"There are proper ways of testing how well an AV product handles viruses unknown to it" Yes? Care to elaborate on that?
Pity the fools
that choose to support the same OS year after year after year....
