It seems to me they're getting the importance of cross-platfrom apps, but that their strategy is to get webOS-apps to be able to run on all relevant platforms. webOS is after all quite web-heavy, so downplay the OS part and it might just be what you're looking for.
It will be very interesting to see what happens, some open action is badly needed in these days of iPhone-apps.
Took Apple five years to release a "magic" trackpad after buying and shutting down the company that made them in the first place. I sincerely hope it won't take another 5 years for a combined touchpad/keyboard to surface. With people paying $1200 for a TouchStream keyboard on eBay, this is another reason to dislike the cult of jobs.
For anyone interested in this genre I'd like to recommend the MiG 29 crash at Le Bourget:

When the engines fail right after take off, he turns and flies straight towards the ground before ejecting, in order to avoid hitting the crowd. Remember hearing that he stood up afterwards without any major injuries, and that he offered to fly the next day.
And, all our-equipment-is-better-than-yours-flames aside, you have to admit that the MiG 29 is aestheticly more pleasing than the F-16.
I thought epicenter was commonly used in a figurative sense to describe all kinds of situations where there is a clear center from which something spreads out.
