Our Touch arrived on Saturday. It's so much better for moving books in and out of collections. It is 3/4 of the weight (in the case) and is smaller than our current one. Our Keyboard version has now been passed to a relative for further use - and some book sharing!

Only issue I've found so far is that the Touch cannot process a Calibre Catalogue file for more than a few page turns. It totally freezes up and needs a hard-reset (power button for 20 seconds) to restore control. The keyboard Kindle reads the same file without issue.

Re: They appear to be having problems with ICS

See here for the reason why: http://crave.cnet.co.uk/mobiles/galaxy-s2-sim-free-owners-last-to-get-ics-samsung-admits-50007550/

Basically, your phone has less software on it, so needs the most testing!

Re: Taxonomous

Indeed - point 6 is too vague in that list.

'Something bad' usually relates to either a direct attack on the poster, either ridiculing the poster for their lack of knowledge, grammar, general noobness. Or an attack on the forum in general by posting such an inflammatory statement that people go off topic and the thread descends into a flame war.

Where does 'the Administrator' fit into this list?

Say what now?

So if the charger cuts out once the phone is at 100%, doesn't that mean that the phone will start discharging again straight away?

You could plug your phone in at night, with 95% charge. A hour later it's charged and turns off. When you wake up, the phone is now 7 hours discharged.

WTF?

So would those polarized driving specs work or do those 2D specs work differently?

Will anyone produce specs that block out the git in the row in front texting his mates?

Lifetime of the Service.

Those that are complaining of the 'I bought a lifetime sub and I'm still alive' issue should know that the contract specified the 'lifetime sub' refers to the lifetime of the EPG service Tivo/BSkyB were putting out. Tivo needed to give just 30 days notice of closure of the service. In the end we've been given a little more notice than that.

Not that I'm defending the decision by any means - it sucks. I'm a 10+ year Tivo user and it's still the best SD PVR you can run at the moment. The VM offer (which fortunately I can, and have, taken up) will only soften the blow for people in cabled areas - it's about 50% of the country ISTR.

One glimmer, as mentioned above, is the ability to hack your S1 Tivo to get data from elsewhere. The Aussies do it, so do the Dutch. Here's hoping we get a UK version soon.

Stop

Will it also require a data plan?

Reports from the US say this will need a 1 month data plan from the network so they can activate the wifi option. Yes, you read that right.

Paying for his bail

Do they take VISA?

I'll repeat that

This always assumes that the program data we'll be getting for this is better than the crappy data that we get on the current Series 1 Tivo. I long ago turned off the 'first run' option after missing episodes where some numpty had forgotten to tick the right box when setting up the data initially.

Tivo is great and all that - but it's Achilles heel is the program data.

And don't forget the 'hidden' ad skip button on the version1

SELECT - PLAY - SELECT - 3 - 0 - SELECT

This gave you a handy 30 second forward jump. 6 presses and 3 minutes of ads disappear in a flash!

Somehow, I doubt that feature will make it into the new version.

Hope they keep the 'live tv' feature from the original, so useful to have it continually record for you, not just when you press PAUSE like on the V+ box.

My V1 Tivo is still going, recording away on it's single tuner. Although I think it's (expanded) HD is on the way out now as every couple of months it'll reboot (yes, MONTHS). My ability to program it over the internet is still going though - and has been for about 8 years.

I'll be in line for this too.

Title eh?

I loved level 2-1, the prison. One of the scariest levels in the whole game.

This game took well over 100 hours of my life - until RDR forced me to hang up my sword for a while. I've still got my US version at home... so perhaps one day I'll return. :)

Hands Off!

Is it less safe to have the antenna on the outside of a phone, actually touching your hand?

SteveCo

Exactly!

So I take it that this new 4G iPhone doesn't come with a timed lock on it then? Would Apple really allow bods out into the worlds with the lock NOT engaged? I don't think so.

As for the reported phone itself. Meh - doesn't do anything for me over the latest Android phones. What's happened to the _innovation_ ?
