Breaking up of hydrocarbons (natural gas) has been muted as a way of making hydrogen for cars, whereas I think it would be more sensible to use the methane.
Beef, I like it too, but not to the detriment of rain forest, therefore I always buy British beef.
Trees can be used for building materials, also buried trees became coal (eventually).
Rather than an enter giving you a big gap can we have a line directly underneath and also have the ability to have different sized gaps between paragraphs?
Now I am NOT a fanboy but due to historical reasons have more than the average amount of Sony kit, more to do with 1980s quality, chosing Beta in the format war, and pleased with the brand.
If I stick up I get labelled a Fanboy, no I am just a happy customer like I am of say Pioneer, or Humax, or Sanyo Beta VCRs.
Now due to reason of more children games (basically Rachet & Clank & others vs Viva Pinata) we went PS3 rather than Xbox360, basically there was one game suitable in the early years for Xbox so was rejected. FOR US it was the right reason and also returned me to console games. Now if I defend it against attacks from Xbots I get labelled fan boy, now they are the real fan boys, who pick on competing products simply because they are NOT the product they own.
I suppose I am the fan as I do not attack their products just defend myine against their attacks, I suppose a Mr Shitpeas would be a fanboy.
I tend to record the odd film off Film 4, I don't bother with HD films on C4 or ITV - those logos do my head in.
But I used to buy DVDs like they were going out of fashion, but cold turkeyed at the time, film quality dropped and locked adverts on how to pirate came in.
I now buy on average 1 Blu Ray every 2 - 3 months and now that is enough.
Tired of put disc in get warning, unable to skip, go to PC, rip DVD, find a blank, burn it, put in DVD player, watch film.
After this I gave up buying and just waited for BluRay to arrive, until they started it as well - well look numpties, we spent a lot on a player, TV, sound system, and between £5 and £10 per disc, LET US WATCH THE FILM OR WE WILL STOP BUYING THEM.
I am also a lot more selective with only about 20 BluRays, compared to about 200 DVDs
I have only done this for films not available in formats I want.
In my case HD-DVD rips I then copied to my PS3.
Was not buying a DVD as it was SD, and of course the PS3 can play HD rips of the the dead HD format.
That said I think I only did 2 films like this.
I would have bought them too.
I was awkwards back in the rental tape era as well - I used Beta and refused to downgrade to VHS, the rental shop owner had the same VCR as well. Luckily I was saved by DVD. For the 7 or so years I just watched films on TV. For recording I was using a HiFi Sanyo with an old Ondigital box.
But I can see piracy of films being low and also definately they are rental losses not purchase losses.
The film industry needs to look at the films (forget remakes and star vehicles), the competing technologies (especially video games), wives watching the pap leaving no time, and the worst - locked down discs which do not let you watch the film (especially Fox - they are an automatic NOT buy) most peoples introduction to piracy are those stupid adverts on DVD telling you - the person who bought the DVD that it is also available for free.
I think it comes down to that films buffs want to own the film, if the film is worthwhile.
Thought I would try Half Life 2, good game, dated in some respects* (do NOT downvote), but has to be one of the more important games# of recent years.
Just got to Follow Freeman, afterwards will take a break from HL2 because I bought all the HL stuff over Christmas.
Yes I can wait but only because I haven't finished HL2 yest let alone played HL!
* Why dated?
Look down, where are Gordons feet?, Drive a buggy, airboat, where are Gordons hands?, when you are on narrow beams you want to see feet!
# Why important?
Well look how it has inspired so many other games, how a silent protagonist became so important to a particular entertainment media.
The health pickups are a change from regenerating health.
Oh and you can see the inspiration in other games with Resistance 3, inspiration NOT copying, return to health packs, Mount Pleasant nods to Ravenholme, Gaterford nods towards Nova Prospekt.
Oh and the early Id FPS games mean more to me than a blue hedgehog or an Italian plumber. GF is a modern version of these people.
Like the rather disgusting Westlife CD my daughter bought because it was cheap and she had a new CD player.
Format shifting is a bit of a pain and to be honest I would rather start with a CD.
Not all of us have jumped down the mp3 route, I still use MD and CD changer in the car, because it works. Still use a DVD player in the house as it is fantastic with audio (won awards and used as a transport by audiophiles - I like its SACD DVD-A support)
At least I can buy a CD ect and if I don't like it or get fed up with it sell it at a car boot/Ebay/record shop.
Downloading music is now leading to a whole world of hurt for consumers UNLESS you "Obtain" instead.

Never heard of it
What is it?
Carriage Returns
If it was me it is the ability to have text on new lines with no blank lines, like a "<br>" rather than the "<p>" we get now for every CR.
Which service was this?
Yes I have used this myself, our local paper web site was on about an alternative number so of course I posted it.
I liked IT Crowd, probably best though to finish while it was good.
APS
Was stupid.
I remember the hoo haa.
First question was why should a user swap from 35mm to APS if it was going to be worse.
Answer was a better film.
Reply was that film will go to 35mm as well and kill APS.
APS was dead at birth, and if Kodak had kept the best films for APS Fuji would have taken the 35mm market.
I was a long time user of Tri-X and Fujichrome, unfortunately my camera has a light leak.
Budweiser
Who has got rights to the name now in the UK?
One is wee, the other a nice Czech lager
I noticed the auto acceptance
I decided it must be because I play nice and don't cause too much trouble.
@BristolBachelor
Cutting down to plant ethanol crops is just stupid.
Also I am pleased to say my petrol use is minimal, just for starting as I have a large propane tank in the boot.
@Trevor

I am definately pro nuke.
The Freeloaders
Who exactly are they?
If they had to pay would they? Or would they do without.
If it was easier to buy than obtain would they switch what they did?
Availability seems to be the main issue, the out of print album, the film in the wrong format, the TV programme not in your region.
It is less hassle to buy a CD than download one for free. DVDs still punish the purchaser for not downloading.
@Annililator
Only that I am playing it at the moment and it is still as good.
Can we have new lines please?
Rather than an enter giving you a big gap can we have a line directly underneath and also have the ability to have different sized gaps between paragraphs?

Testing
BoldItalic
Have you noticed this is much nicer wothout the trolls?
Climate change
Yes it is changing - it always has. But I get the feeling that trying to control it we will use our enrgy supplies up quicker.
Personally I am of the opinion we should be using less resources and tackling pollution first.
As to CO2 best thing to do as far as I am concerned is plant lots of trees.
There seems to be unsure about warming or cooling, what effects there will be.
The idea that we break up fossil fuels to remove the carbon before burning seems ludicrous, wasted energy.
CO2 is plant food, we need to capture it in wood.
We do not need massive beef ranches do we?
Fanboys
Very interesting subject.
Now I am NOT a fanboy but due to historical reasons have more than the average amount of Sony kit, more to do with 1980s quality, chosing Beta in the format war, and pleased with the brand.

Hello
Just testing
Peeing in the middle of the night on holiday
Mine is get out of bed, walk to toilet, pee, get back in bed. All I need to do is empty it once a day.
No luxuries these tents.
Nothing like having your own loo while on holiday.
(Owner of large white box on wheels)
We will buy good films
I tend to record the odd film off Film 4, I don't bother with HD films on C4 or ITV - those logos do my head in.
But I used to buy DVDs like they were going out of fashion, but cold turkeyed at the time, film quality dropped and locked adverts on how to pirate came in.
I now buy on average 1 Blu Ray every 2 - 3 months and now that is enough.
return - no luck
Hassled the producers - just told them I no longer buy them - if I miss a good film - tough
Taxi
I know - that is why I mentioned it - got all 3, pity 1 is non anamorphic and the subs are off the screen in letterbox mode.
Funny really I had completely forgotten about the ruining of the Italian Job
re Wiggers : Or use in a gas injection system
Like the CNG systems.
Works on a normal engine
People not getting it
If the only thing I can critisise is due to age and lack of Freeman body bits, what does that say about the game?
When there are few things to pick on the silly things get noticed.
I only really noticed in the air boat as the steering went on its own
Portal
You do see Chell quite a few times
Luckily there are gaps
Most of the multiplayers I do have between match gaps long enough to have a wee.
But then I have a 90 minute limit before I need a break anyway.
I gave up
Stopped buying, stopped watching.
Tired of put disc in get warning, unable to skip, go to PC, rip DVD, find a blank, burn it, put in DVD player, watch film.

Steve Martin was never Clouseau
Another film to ignore with the US Wicker Man, Taxi (NOT Taxi Driver) ect ect
JCB Card
Are they yellow amd tough?
Re Peter Lee
Feet & Hands
Might not bother you but if it is the only thing I can think off that is not bad is it?
Some hands & arms on the wheel would not have made it worse either.
Unlike the Id Games
HL2 has a story beyond killing things.
The escape the trip
Portal is good
But what would you say if worth adulating?
Still on HL2 so can wait.
Bought Orange Box for Portal.
Thought I would try Half Life 2, good game, dated in some respects* (do NOT downvote), but has to be one of the more important games# of recent years.
Just got to Follow Freeman, afterwards will take a break from HL2 because I bought all the HL stuff over Christmas.

Sky
I have had sales people try to pursuede me (a few years ago pre HD, early Freeview).
They failed.
Kept on about something called a Sky Plus, it can record TV programmes, but you had to pay money every month for it to work.
They had internet there, they had a rather good look at the Pace site now they knew there were free to view PVRs.
Now looking forwards to a call trying to sell HD then they can have a look at the Humax HDR site. However we are TPS registered.
Record Companies
Neither good local band could get a suitable deal, they were offered quite restrictive ones but decided not to.
That said some demos appeared on vinyl a couple of years ago.
Bands
I knew a few local bands, and playing music was always their number one priority.
Live gigs ect.
They reall wanted a deal but could not get the right ones, but music was always first not being a rock star.
Rootkit
And didn't Sony Japan sit on them from a great height for it?
Sony music - even Sony fans hate them
Poorer older music
There has always been a lot.
To me New Romantic was pap
Def Lep
Still better than a lot of pap out now, I obtained the CD as FLAC, thought pretty good, so bought the CD.
RE Vic
Yes this is it - make music and we will buy it
When most stuff I buy is 70s and 80s and only 1 really recent - this is a worry.
Whoops
Likes like I upset the Westlife fan!
How about making some decent music?
Rap - is it music?
The Xfactor stuff - yuk
There are a few decent bands around now but not many.
My purchases are of 1970s and 80s rock and the occasional modern release eg Def Leppard in 2008
It is that my DVD player is good as a CD transport as well as....
It is a Pioneer DV 575. A lot of audiophile use them as CD transports.
However the DV 575 also supports both high resolution music formats DVD-Audio and Super Audio CD.
CD is 16bit 44.1kHz sample rate
DVD-A can be 24bit 192kHz sample rate, I think most of mine are 24/96
SACD is a different animal altogether and uses a very high sample rate Direct Stream Digital
Remember the FTA & FTV broadcasters
France Germany Austria all have FTA F1 on satellite.
France has free HD F1 but you need a card.
Anyway if you have LNBs for 5W (Atlantic) 13E (Hotbird) 19.2E (Astra 1) and of course 28.2 (Astra 2) you can get FTA & FTV F1.
Most are on Astra 1, BBC HD is on Astra 2. HD is on Atlantic and Astra1 with long term cards
For FTV F1 (Free but cards) look at Fransat and TNTSat.
Sports
Funny really but some children do not know that certain sports exist as they are never on FTA TV.
I wonder if they will ever discover say Cricket. If schools don't a sport could die.
Teams are unhappy
And have asked for more money from Ecclestone
Loss of viewers is a big deal to them.
Yes but after TF1 HD
Got an HD TV and I am used to the BBC broadcasts.
But RTL will be a good start
Still not sure what to do
85cm dish is a must.
I will need a sat meter.
Also will need new quad LNBs anyway
But do I get RTL and use my Humax HDR?
Or do I get TNTSat and a TNTSat box?
Or do I get a Dreambox, almost tempted to do a single LNB on Astra1 and get a Dreambox and TNTSat card and use TF1.
My daughter knows some German and some French I know some French.
Decisions decisions
Will have to try these
Used to torrents and use them for US TV which is not on UK TV, or shown at funny times in funny orders (looking at ITV here).
So I will have to check and see if the client is up to this and give it a test.
Sticking with hard copies
At least you can sell them.
Like the rather disgusting Westlife CD my daughter bought because it was cheap and she had a new CD player.
