It's the only prosumer camcorder to offer progressive 60fps (i believe, at least), this not only offers smooth pans, it also offers slo-mo, by re-interpreting the frame-rate via suitable softs. This makes this camcorder unique at the pricepoint. Final Cut Pro has no problem importing this camcorders footage as opposed to the heavy processing loads inflicted by the AVCHD crowd.
and see where the whole smartphone thing is. If Apple really do have a game changer in the iphone, then the numbers will tell. Otherwise, it's all just idle speculation. Take a break everyone, sink a few beers and get back to reality...
I have a few trances of land left remaining on the Saturn's moon 'Titan'. It's a bit chilly at the moment, but should warm up in time for the exodus from Earth. All enquiries to PO BOX 99, London W1.
One million unlocked iphones, that is one million unlocked iphones - throughout the world - not just in the USA or the UK or France or Germany. Talk about a trojan horse. I just don't see Apple losing that much sleep over the 'lost' revenue, when you have a vanguard of users already in a market soon to be coming to you. As Apple rolls out the iphone in more and more markets, watch the security get tougher and tougher. Then it will be just 'simpler' to get the iphone with a contract from your local provider.
In the first paragraph, the author tells us that the long term results of this move are "at least dangerous and potentially disastrous". But there seems no where in the article to support this comment.

marketing #101
#1 NEVER mentions #2.
MS just made Apple's day, they just legitimized Macs.

Let's get one thing clear....

Long term damage?

Ummm...some real world price comparisons
3GHz 8-core Mac Pro with 2GB RAM, 250GB Hard Drive, 256MB Video Card, CD-RW/DVD etc etc
$4296
2.66GHz 8-core DELL Workstation, same spec as above (ie. no monitor, no floppy).
$5756
The faster Mac Pro is $1500 CHEAPER than the DELL
ok it's $$$ but the comparison still stands, one 'could' build our own, but I think those quad cores are quite expensive.
