I have legally bought every game I own, but cracked most of them.
A few years back, I was bitching about having to put the disc in the machine each time I wanted to play a game, and a friend of mine suggested downloading a cracked version of the exe for the game, and using that.
I have cracked every legal copy of a game I've bought since. Not because I'm trying to run a ripped off version, but because I'm sick of putting the disc in all the time (No, I don't play online, so that's no issue for me.)
I think Steam was great like that, sure you have to be on the internet to play anything, but I didn't have to put the damn disc in all the time.
Besides, no matter what a company does, it'll get cracked/hacked/molested usually even before the street release date. I'm not saying it's pointless to have protection on the software, it still deters some people, but there isn't alot of point going all out on it.
If someone is determined to do something, they'll find a way.
We get fucked over so much censorship here. It's shit. No doubt about it.
Even if there was an true opt-out, we'd get placed on the "watched like a hawk" list.
It's not the censorship I'm really worried about (Proxy anyone?), it's the fact that pretty soon, *everyone* will be watched alot more intently.
Although this is nothing new, we already have some ISP level censorship. The Liberals saw to that last term. Unfortunately Labour is just continuting Liberal schemes. So much for change.
Well, better fire up that connection to my VPN host in Brazil...
...I've had a freaky mutation this whole time? Here I was thinking being born in a data-center, fed nothing but Ethernet Spaghetti and Sillicon Chips plus the lifetime of training created my sixth sense...
...remember when Debian, Red Hat and SuSE were "the" distributions?
Now it seems no matter where I look, this blasted Ubuntu is popping up.
And as a SuSE and Gentoo user, it pains me. I hate Ubuntu.
Ok so it may be easier for Windows users to migrate (compared to something like Gentoo), but do we really want more Windows users beyond thier depth in a distribution which is like the "Gumby" version of a Linux distribution?
"Ubuntu" the African word for "I can't use a real Linux distribution".
Seems more and more true every day with Windows-loving script kiddies claiming they can use Linux, just because they have a Ubuntu installation somewhere on a partition they never boot.
And for the record, GNOME really sucks. The whole "brown" Ubuntu thing really sucks. KDE for the win. (and before you say it, fanboys, I'm very aware you can swap if you want. But last time I checked, you didn't get the option when installing.)
Well, it seems more and more likely every day that indeed Google is trying to take over the world. If I may cite a report from a while ago... http://www.theregister.co.uk/2006/03/08/you_only_search_twice/ See! we've know for a long time they're trying it, having Skype under thier control just helps them...
I'm not crazy, just wait. But when we're digging in thier off-world money mines, I want you to know I called it.
What I don't get, is why so many people seem to be modding these little beauties. I mean, sure they're cheap enough, but wouldn't it be more practical to mod the hell out of something that was already a beast, and make it a behemoth?
Still, impressive work, wish I thought of it first.

Legitimate use for cracks...
Yeah I said it. Legitimate use for cracks.
I have legally bought every game I own, but cracked most of them.

The lucky country indeed.

WORLD DOMINATION.
Finally, my plans will come into fruition!
May the Metal-Heart Cyborg armies rise...
Offical units of measurements and rules.
If I may cite some old articles about news on El Reg...

Enjoy.
If Hollywood can do it...
...so can we.
Send Bruce Willis up there again, if he can't stop the asteroid - we really are done for.
You mean...
...I've had a freaky mutation this whole time? Here I was thinking being born in a data-center, fed nothing but Ethernet Spaghetti and Sillicon Chips plus the lifetime of training created my sixth sense...
Site name?
Umm, you may have the site name wrong there...
It's actually "modmyiphone.com" not "ModifyMyPhone"
Sister site of (the much better) modmymoto.com (for Motorola phones, obviously.)
Oh deary me...
...I may have started a flame war. C'mon guys, I was just winding you up.
Gee you Fanboys really take it personally...
*sigh*

I gotta say it, just once atleast...
Install Linux, Problem solved.
No Mr Bond, I expect you to die...

@ Pierre
'African word meaning "tougher than you"' ...what?
I always thought it was the African word meaning "I can't use a real Linux distro".
Too much time on thier hands?
