library storage

As usual it's a solution to a problem I didn't have. But you've got to realize that it enables you to abstract your storage from it's actual hierarchical structure. It's like a poor man's SAN.

In other words if I had 5 computers/media boxes in the house and I wanted to present all that shared movies and audio..but see it in just one place..libraries will do that for you.

It just makes more sense to keep files in one place to begin with. Then you don't have to abstract it into being using the library feature to begin with.

Privaleges problem

Enable the administrator account and logon as adminstrator. Windows is too vulnerable to worry about the security risk this usually imposes. Rename the administrator account your name from the management console. Delete your old account after you have copied user files inside your profile to the root of C. This fixes most problems related to permission level of some program not having enough privileges.

Robocopy could be its own problem.

The rest of getting it to run right is just like in XP..finding where all the useless stuff is and shutting it down.

nano capacitors

I didn't read every post. So sorry if I'm repeating. But the 10 minute thing could be possible using some form of nano-scale capacitor technology. I'm pretty sure the Reg had an article on it.

Find your dude

I agree with everyone so far. And I'd like to add that since the IOS has been pirated nobody should consider it secure. Pretending vulns don't exist is what large computer corporations do as a matter of history since the 70's. It's just how it's done.

For good advice on the subject you should find the closest Cisco corporate office. Ask for a sales call and request an engineer. If you don't have anyone local, then call someone at Cisco. It's more difficult over the phone to be sure. So good luck.

A real Cisco engineer that will come over for free and give advice is a good thing. And having another person to blame when something goes wrong is always good. Setting up that kind of relationship made all those things you are talking about disappear.

And if you can't make that happen then the other commenter is correct. You don't need to buy Cisco equipment. Find your local "dude".

So what is the difference between this and RAID 1?

Cell ya later

One of the most disappointing things about the Cell was it's slow access to external memory. A crippling thing considering it's architecture is highly dependent on feeding SPE's Well anyway this card and incarnation of the Cell technology it contains is faster with memory. Within it's limitations this card could be reprogrammed to do just about anything. Instead of just being a video or physics card. There's nothing to stop people from using more than one either. It could be interesting as the only thing that can save the Cell is getting a code base.

Whoa...hold up....

I don't know how you got from DRM to European Colonial conspiracy. The first thing I noticed is that Apple’s i-tunes files are not DRM controlled. You can copy the files from PC to PC. All you need to play the files is the proper CoDec installed on the machine. You can even play i-tunes music using WinAmp or Windows Media player. If I’m not mistaken they are just AAC audio streams part of the MPEG2/4 standard. So the whole basic point is wrong, unless the Mac cooperates in some DRM scheme that I am unaware of. Not to put too fine a point…but as a Mac user from 1986-19 ”95” I wouldn’t be too surprised. Now that Vista is out, both Mac and PC suck just as much now.
