My girlfriend has no interest in videogames, but when the pink nintendo DS came out she had to have one. Same with mobile phones, never really bothered her, she's always had some rubbish old b&w phone till the nokia 7390 came out in pink complete with some wierd label sticking out of the side of it.
Now she wants a pink mp3 player... and I'm sure it wont be long before she wants a pink plasma screen for the living room (if they exist)
