Another game I won't be buying...

Just as my CD buying habits have fallen from 100+ CDs purchased per year, to none (and no, I do not buy music in any form now) - my game buying habits will also be affected by DRM. DRM makes the pirated version more appealing than the original, so why does the manufacturer think I would pay for artificial restrictions imposed by them? Are they that stupid?

I also do not buy games off Steam as I don't like the idea of giving Valve my credit card details. After the leak of their Half Life 2 source code, I learned that trusting Valve with anything private would be folly - so I eschew Steam completely and buy my games the old-fashioned way (on CD/DVD media). By extension, I would not run any Valve games on any PC that contained data that I would not wish to become public knowledge. Common sense...

As for next-gen games, I'm waiting with bated breath for StarCraft 2 - although I have to say I'm not pre-ordering it. I'll watch Blizzard, and if they come up with this kind of crap, they can wave goodbye to me as a customer. As much as I love the StarCraft francise, I don't love it enough to be treated like crap by the company behind it. Just fair warning...

Oliver.
