UK-based Dick Tracy types now finally have an idea of how much they may have to fork out for LG’s upcoming watchphone, thanks to Orange’s French arm.
LG_Watch_04 LG's GD910 watchphone: available on Orange UK this month
The network operator has the exclusive rights to the GD910 for both the UK and France, and has just priced …
I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT I WANT IT I WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANT IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!!
Luckily for me that's FAR too expensive for me, so I won't get drunk and 'accidentally' buy one.
What a ripoff - these things have been out for years

"Exclusive" ha! You can already get mobile phone watches at less than £70, e.g. see http://www.chinavasion.com/index.php/cName/mobile-phones-cell-phone-watch/
if you want to talk to someone you take it off and hold it to your ear or you just hold your wrist up to your ear like some sort of tool? Suppose the bluetooth headset is the only option but never really get along with those, prefer a wired handsfree, which i suppose you could snake up your shirt sleeve.
Also if we're going to strictly hold to the rules you'd have to take it off to go fill the car up at the petrol station.
Seems cool but i bet the reality falls far short of the expectation

Actual UK price revealed! #
It can be cleverly extrapolated from the French price.
€399 at current exchange rate of £1=€1.664 = £239.78
Add VAT at 15% = £275.75
Add UK "Because We Can" Tax at 100% = £551.50
Round Up to nearest £99.99 = £599.99
And don't forget it'll be an 18-month contract here too!

Good thing for LG that huge watches are in fashion, Clive Sinclaire was simply born in the wrong era!

lg watchphone price calculation #
@ Ihre Papiere, bitte:
You got it wrong, mate;
the ex rate is 1.1664 making the first of your calculation £342.
Follows: £342 * 1.15 = £393.30 * BWCtax = £786.60
Next x99.99 is too close, so add 20 and then round up to next x99.99 = £899.99.
Price not feasible, so don't market in UK.
-----> Available over ebay for geek premium of £100 + £38 p&p (footnote in the auction: you're bidding for an original LG Watchphone box).
-----> £1037.00 for a bit of cardboard (please allow 48 weeks for dispatch).
.- profit

Exchange rate is wrong, you've got £/$, not euros... GBP/EUR is more like 1.125
which means that it will be £899.99
meh, still want one though!
Paris, coz I could 'watch' her on the phone!

€399 = £1000 (allowing for standard UK profiteering markups)
Thought everyone knew that, or am I thinking of the US to UK markup?

Of course by the time Orange have sprayed their shiteware all over it, all it will actually do is tell the time... badly... for the wrong time zone.

Is this just the new calculator watch? #
Isn't this just the new calculator watch? Everyone wanted one, the coolest kids had them...
Then everyone realised that ultimately they were pretty crap, uncool - and even worse completely not practical and usable.
