why are phone manufacturers still releasing units with sub-5mp cameras in them? I dont get it.
@ Bassey, yeah, they did. it was like a Startac crammed into a sexy dress. and like this ancient POS of yore, you got it home, took the shiny wrapper off, and discovered it was a hideous old dog that had tricked you.
Because if the optics are so small and cheap and the CMOS sensor that tiny the image is so compressed at source then, in reality, there is little to no difference in the quality of a 5mp image as that of 10mp up to a 7x5" image. People realised this when they took pictures with their 8mp new Samsung and the image still looked like they'd took it on their old 3mp nokia.
90% of digital images taken never get printed and if they do, it is hardly ever larger than 6x4. Nokia know this and I'd take an affordable 3mp camera phone over a more expensive 10mp camera phone any day.
