A drop of 1m?

Coat

So, if you're texting and your phone slips, as long as you're no taller than about 4'6" it is potentially still open to damage? And as for it slipping from your hand while you're talking on it, well, that drops your 'safe' height to a mere 3'7" (assuming you hold it at your ear and not on top of your head - before you conversion freaks kick me). I really can't be bothered to work out the height of the average pocket from the ground...... you'll have to stand up and look down to see if it would affect you......

Should be ok if you drop it while talking if you're driving though.... well, for the phone anyways......

m = mile?

Anonymous - perhaps 'm' is used as an abbreviation for mile, not metre?

Oh dear

Boffin

I hate these morons who always whine about drop heights ("Oh, but I'm 1.8m tall, why does it only have 1.5m drop height, that's no use"). It's not designed as much for when you're calling (when most normal people actually grip the thing) as when you're taking it out of pocket or case, when it's most likely to fall. Not to mention its being knocked off a table or other furniture, which generally isn't much more than 1m. If you find you're constantly dropping your phone during actual calls, perhaps a better approach is to see a physiotherapist rather than buy a more ruggedised phone.

Personally, I welcome this move towards ruggedisation (having just bought an impact-proof, waterproof, dust-sealed digital camera) for those of us who do active sports and hobbies; in my case, kayaking. This is where these impact- and weather-proof devices come in handy, rather than the sort of idiotic clumsiness that Anonymous above seems to suffer from.

Wrong colour

How come it ain't yellow? Everything that's ruggedized has to be yellow. It's the rules, init?

Remind me to put a disclaimer saying it's tongue-in-cheek next time for those who take life too seriously...... :-P As if the Getting Coat icon *wasn't* a clue to that.......
